Every estate involves a legal process that must remain organized, accurate, and moving forward. Taiesa Heath supports that work behind the scenes, helping keep cases on track so families aren’t delayed by preventable issues.

As a Legal Assistant at EstateCo, Taiesa works closely with the legal team to support the documentation and filing process that allows estates to progress through the courts.

Below, Taiesa shares more about her role in her own words.

In your own words, what do you do at EstateCo?

I am the legal assistant to our in-house counsel, David Berman. Most of my job includes assisting with drafting and filing documents and submitting orders to the judge. I do some legal research and keep each case file on track to receive signed orders and discharge.

What part of your work matters most to you — the thing you wish every heir understood?

The part that matters to me the most is how my work affects each heir. These are not just properties. Each property is attached to a story, a need, a family – and I do not take that for granted. The more efficient my work, the quicker we meet the needs of our heirs.

What’s one moment in your job that reminded you why this work is important?

A few weeks ago, during our staff meeting, I was told about an estate in which we were able to obtain and send the decedent’s ashes back to the family from the State. I drafted the documents that allowed our personal representative to have legal access to the property, so that moment reminded me that this isn’t just about monetary gain for the heirs, but some of it holds personal value as well.

What’s something people would be surprised to learn about your work?

While everything I do is for the betterment of our heirs, my role does not really require me to meet or talk with any of our heirs. I do a lot of paperwork.

What do you love doing when you’re not working?

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my friends and loving my dog, Zuri. I love to travel domestically and internationally. I have been to Dubai, France, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, and other places, and look forward to traveling more often.
